since i heard the news i could not stop but cry . Michael Jackson to me and many others was and still is known as the king of pop and to me the king of dance . Those white gloves , that shoes , and that moon walk ! boy !! i loved him . i never felt ashamed when it came to doing the dance of Michael Jackson in public even being a girl . ( i know another friend of mine mel who does it super well too and we proud of it ) the legendary king of pop was nothing but the meaning of talented .

Despite the things people said about him , only he knew the truth and people like us who knew he was innocent because there was no prove . it was so easy to pay a kid and tell him what to say . even if he did it , who are we to judge . Michael was only human if he made mistakes who were we to condemn , did not we make our own set of mistakes .. What about the things he did for the world like breaking the barrier of black and white on TV he shows that music did not have a colour but only unity . Before Obama , or Oprah . Michael spread the truth through music . what about the life he gave children the childhood he never had. he did good but people twisted it and made it theirs. At such a young age he was on stage

Usher once said . i don't believe in the media till they Prove his innocents. were are people like that on earth . But i have come to realise as said NMSNBC Michael once said he was treated unfairly in the music industry BUT today we see millions mourning his death. for instance me , the first sms of the day was from jasmine a good friend of mine telling me MJ has passed on . i could not believe it as i was looking forward to his London come back tour .

God truly loved his more that we did and took him from us for peace in Michael cause i think he has don't alot here on earth . Angels come in many forms and Michael was one of them . the world can say whatever they want but i know what Michael did for us . HE changed the perception of people . he thought us to accept people who are different .

Michael did in music like they did in sports , politics and tv . and no controversy will erase the historic impact. WE are the world would not have happen without Michael Jackson ( talking on behalf of the black people ) from we are the world came live 8 and other organizations. he was a historic figure that people will measure the music and industry by . Day 1 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory .

We all know what the movie was about. Lets take a stroll down memory lane . The famous Willy Wonker chocolates :) oh how they craved for it. 5 Lucky kids were given the chance to visit Willy Wonkers famous factory. based on the movie as i can remember Willy Wonker sold his chocolates to every end of the world. Ever realised something ? the 5 lucky kids were of the roughly the same "type" of people . Lets not get into details but something to thought. LOL

As far as i am concern , geographically speaking , the end of the world reached Africa , Asia , south America , Europe , and even Antarctica . oh well i guess this children were really really lucky because on the other hand , Willy Wonker just randomly slipped the 5 golden tickets without knowing where it went . how does this apply to us ?

Well think for a minute, we always blame people for being racist and not accepting one another . On the other hand have we ever thought it was just the way it is. We never asked for it , we never thought about it but it was just " fed" to us of a known fact ? Just like Willy Wonker Sending his famous chocolates out to the world and the 5 lucky winners just happened to be these 5 lucky kids ..

the first Lucky kid was mike . How similar is Mike as a kid to kids today in the real world. He's on his play station 24/7 , he hardly went out of the house. He used bad language, language he learn from the Tv games and never socialised . On the other hand, he was a very smart boy who knew about telekinesis and what it could do to make the world a better place :) now how is that similar to kids these days ? think about it. Yes Kids do not go out anymore, neither do they climb trees and ride bicycles like us anymore. But have they become smarter , more outspoken, more inquisitive then the kids before ? Think about it ...

Then we have Charlie the " sweetheart" of man kind, i would say . In the movie Charlie belonged to a family who barely met ends meat. They had Cabbage soup everyday for their meals, his dad got retrangged from work because of technology. When Charlie won the ticket, people around him were prepared to pay 500 for it. Charlie thought of giving it up for a moment to give his family a better life. He thought " we needed the money more than chocolates" Charlie only got one chocolate every year and that was on his birthday and when he got he decided to share with with everyone .A kid with a heart of Gold :) At the end he was the one that was not roughten to carry on the legend of Willy Wonkers's chocolate factory. Now we all know that. How similar is Charlie to a kid today. We have all heard of how some children have to quit school to help their family put bread and butter on the table daily. We have heard of how some kids are lucky enough to even have a decent meal without having to dig through any garbage bin . think about it ..........................................

On the other hand we have .. the rich girl who wants ponies for her birthdays . Just like the movie. Her dad Bought All the chocolate he could get his hands on just to give his daughter the golden ticket. She would wine and haul to the moon if she did not get what she wanted. Look, sometimes it takes hard work for someone to get what they want. Some just snap their fingers or in this case stomp their feet and they have what they want all laid down right in front of them. Life is unfair ? life is not just ? Well similar to the world we live in now is it ? The rich get richer , the poor get poorer. But in the end .. no amount of money can buy happiness now can it ??

back to the movie .... Oh how my imagination ran wild when watching the movie. i wonder are all chocolate factories like that ? LOL i think i would love to see the chocolate fountain for real haha

ah yes ... the fat kid . who ATE all the chocolate he could till he got the golden ticket. He just loved chocolates and food for that matter. He ate his way to the golden ticket. Greedy as a pig LOL. how is that similar to us ?? Does the word obesity hit your skull ? Willy Wonker had a factory full of chocolate and candy. it was everywhere and anywhere even to the very land you step on. someone went berserk till he got " sucked" up the chocolate fountain vacum LOL. Greediness lends you no where for the matter ...

and presenting Willy Wonker himself. As a boy Willy Wonker was the son of a famous dentist. Every year at Halloween he was allowed to go out trick or treat but come back getting his candies all burn up because they were "cavities on a stick" how his father had deprived his of his childhood . When he finally got the taste of chocolate one day he loved it so much he ran away from his father Indeed he because successful and all rounded . He had what he wanted But lost what everyone ever treasured .... family ... Now you dont need me to tell you how familiar is that to the real world no do we ? .......... give it a thought for a moment ...

Last but not least violet. The girl who always win. the girl who never quits and the girl who had her mother on her backside telling her . you need this , you need to win , you need to be number one, do whatever it takes . outbid them . A scene in the movie showed how violet immediately hugger Willy Wonker with her mum smiling in the back and telling him " oh she is always a winner" But at the end we all know what happen to violet .. she became .. violet. She possessed a new talent of being flexible but her mother only had one thing to say and one thing in mind " look mum i am flexible ... , yeah but you're blue " " you did not win " Some of feel that no matter how much good we have in us could never live up to the best in our mums eye. I for one am lucky that my parents never once denied what i wanted or what i am good at. but still only to a certain point , after that they is still disagreements and yelling over trying to keep an understanding between us........ ring a bell ??

See what i mean by somehow movies does play a role in representing what we live in today. Yes we may not have all the bad traits of what i mention but i am sure you can say YES to at least one of them .. can you ??

We all saw that movie now didn't we ? Some of us even got the book for our birthdays . I remember reading the book before the movie came out. Oh how i imagined the chocolate fountain and the trees made of candy , the grass of mint sweets :) Since i am on my holiday i have decided to watch a movie a day and blog about it. No i am not going to blog about The movie itself BUT more of what the movie reflects and how does it reflect US in the real world. Movies aren't made for fun. To a certain extend a movie has its trades and a movie has its messages . Lets take one day at a time and one movie at a time to see what movies today REALLY tell us and what do they REALLY mean.

Yasmin Ahmad's new movie Talentime. After watching yesterday i only have one thing to say WOW ok maybe not one thing, but i just dont know where to start. Firstly the movie was so honest. WHY ? watching the movie ,ade me real is THIS IS MALAYSIA these are MALAYSIANS . We may be chinese , indian and malays BUT this is what we go through . At the end of the day WE want the same things in life. We want happiness , we want love , we want joy, we want fun, we want friends , we want friends , and we want relationships.

YES we all look different BUT Yasmin portrayed how different we really are. secondly the generalizations and stereotypes we have about each race and how we fight to get on top not realizing that hey if we do it this way , ONE WAY , TOGETHER it just might work. Yasmin used high school kids in this show and you know why ? NO not because it is just a show about TALENTIME in a particular high school and about bringing out talents of the youth BUT its because THEY are the future generation that will shape our country for a better tomorrow.

Thirdly, i guess what yasmin was trying to say was also YES indeed we all have talents and dreams and hopes and passions but behind it all we still have problems , families and , life still takes place and goes on.Forth, Yasmin brought out certain culture practices that i have in my life seen and now i know OH this is the indian culture OH this is the chinese culture and OH this is the malay culture.

Even though i am mix i still never got the chance to see all of there. For example at when mahesh's uncles cremation took place The practice and culture of it if i am not mistaken is only the men are allowed to go and cremate while the ladies stay at home after the home funereal takes place .
NOW i actually got to see WHAT ACTUALLY happens in the cremation area and what are the practices and traditions done there.

ITS good to know ones culture and learn from it. as they said knowledge is power. NEXT , yasmin had the bravery and bring out certain generalizations and stereotypes that we tend to make on other races. BUT at the end of the day what Yasmin tried to say in the movie was... i think it is not US who make alll this generalizations about people but is other people that force us to make stereotypes about other people . i know i am making this sound very vague but pardon me for saying freedom of speech and writing is not something i believe in , in malaysia today . i am too young to end up anywhere , anytime ..

Talentime is a movie that when we watch , we can relate to .. YES it may be a form of entertainment to one level but to another , it may be realizations that we need to know and take notice off. Yasmin cannot do this on her own by making movies after movies we need to help one another . HELP make Malaysia a better place to live in..Todays generation of young people . you and me , we are all educated , we are all kowledgable . use what god gave us, help he help us make things better .

Yasmin also used new talents for talentime and i dare say some of them , are something for us to shout about . We have our very own holywood stars RIGHT under our noses. COME on tell you can actually act ass well as mahesh , pamela , syafie, jaclyn , and howard . We have every own peter jackson SHE IS YASMIN AHMAD HERSELF. we should start realising these people around us that we have today because they are the ones that will make Malaysia a better place to live in by education us , persuading us and teaching us THROUGH their god given TALENTS .

I know i am as guilty as hell when it comes to local talents . WE OVERLOOK THEM and take them for granted. GOSH we gota wake up Cause if we dont we are going to loose them to people who appreciates them ... ( mind you they are not malaysians the ones who appreciate them ) all the nominees that talentime got .... barely one was given to her on behalf of malaysia... whats happening to us . if we can notice and appreciate a bolywood actor which i think was a good thing i thing we should do the same for people like Yasmin .

what i say does not really matter la ... BUT please as a malaysian GO WATCH IT !!!

I met Loads of great people in bali and got to spend time with great friends . I got to know some friends a little better , got to check out hot guys too ;) . what a life hehe

bachata bachata bachata ! That was what was happening last night at Club 9 & the Six Lounge . Jaxen conducted a bachata workshop . It was small , personal and private. Everyone went home with a little knowledge on bachata and put their skills to the groove baby on the dance floor. It was Latin fever last night . There was also a fashion show that went on. i guess everyone had a little fun with a toss of Latin . Well it was not your usual clubbing experience of just hip hop and r&b but a little of salsa and bachata. here are some pictures that i took ( being R.I.'s Ground Crew for the day i suppose hahaha )

i am so sorry for the late post . thini this is for you :) hehe k lets recall the whole day .. firstly before that . i asked thini .. do you have any plans for your 21st birthday and my dear friend goes . no . so i decided to make a party for her. so i told thini . keep your weekend free and we shall go out . she agreed ,, so while she kept thinking it was just me and her and ashwini for dinner on one side . i was planning a whole big party on the other side . i called all out close friends and got them to come to kl .. THANKS ALOT GUYS seriously ... it made my job a whole lot easier. planing everything. so the actually day came .. jasvinder , jasmine , and biren came earlier to help me get things sorted out . fathiha went to one u to book chilis and me and ashwini went to pick the birthday girl ,everything was well plan then ......... FUDGE ! no petrol in the car and we were already late .. as everyone was waiting for us at chilis . nevermind chill .. went to pour petrol .... then find parking at one u was %^& go figure ! when we reach chili thini was so surprise to see everyone there cause she did not expect any of it I THINK lol anyway ... we sat had our dinner and chat , took some cool pics .. cup the cup cakes ? lol then headed to club ADELE yes club ADELE at my crib yo hahahahahah thank god my parents were cool enough to let me party in the house . we had DJ tom tom to entertain us ( jasvinver ) why he got the name tom tom was because he was the only who did not get the hang of the one tortoise fall in the water tom game untill the very end LOL ... anyway i had to say at the end of the day was it was agood party . everyone turned up except fatin and amrish ... damn sad but nevermind oh yes and mel too .. well there is always a next time .. fathiha birthday is coming up so is jasmines party .. and its all 21st wohoo ! ... here are some pics i took ... have fun viewing them

The one that hit me hard after watching this movie is LOVE .
This movie was wrap with love outside , inside and above.
Ever wondered as a girl, being in the same situation as her.
Falling in love with a man who is the only one that you long to be with ,
your perfectt half , your soul mate
BUT he is aging backwards while you grow old wisely.
While you start to develope and have a better
understanding of the world he becomes this little
curious child who just wants to play.
While you were a kid he could barely move out of his wheelchair.
while all you wanted to do is make love all he wanted to do was play.
two people from completely different worlds.
One a graceful swan who's body moves with the wind ,
with grace an poise the other travel accross the ocean just
cleaning up after the captain. '

As a child she loved him as a friend.
as a teenager she had that puppy dog love feeling that all of us once had.
as an adult she loved him as a man as a lover.
as an old lady she loved his as a son and watched him die as a baby.
He loved her as a child while he was in a wheelchair, he loved her still
as she was a teenager , as a man he loved her with his whole heart
and shared that love with her in every way he could.
as a child he completely forgot who she was but under
circumstances he continued loving her as a mother and lastly
died is her arms without even knowing who she really was .
I dont think i would ever want to be in the same position as her.
to live watching the only man you love aging backwards.
to live watching a men leave you because he cant afford to stay and deliver his duties .
to live watching the only man you had ever loved die in your arms a sweet little innocent child.

last weekend i had the time of my life. I met up with some good old friends at jasvinders birthday party. Boy it was a blast. There i met some new friends too. The night was awesomely splendid. we drank and danced the night away. In some way or another i felt like i was back in school . Seeing my old tuition teacher and school teacher made me wana go back to school too :) All my good friends were there accept jessy and jboy who could not make it. well the night started out with speeches and montage footages of jas growing up then food came YUMM then the PARTY started baby ! damn it was night out to remember . tears of joy hit me when i saw everyone at the party . its amazing how we all still kept in touch after all these years .. trust me its a long time :) here are really good and memorable pictures that we took. i shall stop writing for a while ... like they said a picture paints 1000 words :)

i had my salsa test yesterday .. After after all the huha its finally done and YES i pass. Indeed i am happy that i pass , but what does this mean entirely for me ? It does not make me any better then i was before cause i am still that same dancer only a level higher. correct me if i am wrong. Now that i am here at this point i have to excel , i am no more that beginner who is doing salsa for the fun of it. Now its a whole new level , a whole new commitment and a whole new beginning .

I cant be saying " i can only dance with certain guys cause i trust them " SCREW IT ADELE wake up and smell the coffee . life is not a bed of roses . Even roses have thorns , it hurts ! Live with it ! learn to Trust the guy , Learn to follow . SO what if you have been a hip hop dancer and never really had a dance partner , learn how to trust ANYONE , you are just student no ones needs to earn your trust. Its a give and take situation that you have to with . CUT being a livebrat and mourning about it. TAKE the lead Take that Step and do it ! Don't set yourself on auto mode. and do as you please. remember you are a follower not the leader and when your partner tells you that .

LISTEN! don't go all " yes " "Yes" but end up repeating that same mistake over and over again.I know dance for me was always about having fun and it being a passion since young and all but Being in a new year with a whole new atmosphere . I have decided to take my dance to a whole new level . YES its all about having fun BUT also Learning it right , cut the stubbornness , listen , and take control of that EGO !
its time to take this a little more seriously cause i know if i screw up i can say Bye to my new year resolution of getting myself a good dance partner :) cause with this attitude Adele you ain't going no where :)

thanks to a lot of people who have knock some seance into me :) of cause Jaxen my sifu :) , Cecelia who is the all patient sweet teacher to me too :) James for disciplining me in a way to getting it right :) and all my Friends ( Miki, Charlene, Alice, Melissa , Sue Anne, Shankar and all at R.I) who made this experience dancing worth while and making salsa fun :)

June 14, 1927 – January 13, 2009

Pedro “Cuban Pete” Aguilar, 81, passed away on January 13, 2009, in Miami, FL.

Cuban Pete grew up in New York’s El Barrio and made his mark in the Latin dance world at the dawn of the Mambo craze, in New York’s famous Palladium Ballroom, and from there vaulted to international prominence. Known as the "King of the Latin Beat," "Mr. Mambo," and the "Prince of the Palladium," he invented scores of dance movements and hand embellishments now viewed as standards of Latin dance. He served as a catalyst for social change in the entertainment and social arenas by being the first "man with a tan" to dance with a white woman onstage; in 1951 he danced with Millie Donay at the Palladium, ushering in one of the first instances of integration on the dance floor.

In his multi-decade career, he performed in movies, television, stage, and danced for American Presidents, heads of state and dignitaries, as well as serve as choreographer and consultant for the film, "Mambo Kings." He adjudicated at many prestigious dance events worldwide, and was a skilled lecturer on the history of Latin dance and music.

With Barbara Craddock, he helped make history in the preservation of "clave," by serving as choreographic consultant and instructor for Miami City Ballet’s unprecedented work, "Mambo No. 2 a.m.," and was choreographer for "Latin Magic," an original mambo ballet for the University of the Arts School of Dance in Philadelphia.

The recipient of numerous awards for his contributions to Latin dance, he was referred to as "the greatest mambo dancer ever" by LIFE Magazine, Tito Puente and George Goldner of TICO Records. He is archived in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC and RAICES Latin Music Museum in New York.

He is survived by his children, daughters Denise Gerard and Petrina Aguilar, son Sean Peter Aguilar, granddaughter Gina Gerard, grandson Noah Aguilar, sisters Socorra Blackman, Chickie Masdeu, Yvette Masdeu, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dance partner, Barbara Craddock. He is predeceased by his brothers Tony Aguilar and Pedro Aguilar, Jr., and his mother, Nellie Trujillo Masdeu.

In celebration of his life, a gathering will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009, 1-3 p.m., with a memorial service at 3 p.m., at Boyd’s Family Funeral Home, 6400 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, FL. A memorial service will be held in New York at a later date, details to follow.

Lifetime Achievement Award for Pedro ‘Cuban Pete’ Aguilar

“Dancing is a gift,” 80-year-old Pedro ‘Cuban Pete’ Aguilar notes in an article in today’s Sun Sentinel. “My mother gave it to me, and it’s my duty to pass it on.”

Aguilar is being honored, along with his dance partner, Barbara Craddock at the annual Latin Jazz USA Chico O’Farrill Lifetime Achievement Awards. The event takes place at the Manuel Artime Theater in Miami’s Little Havana.

“The awards are given each year to recognize the contributions artists have made to Afro Cuban jazz and Latin jazz,” the Sentinel reports. “Aguilar and Craddock are the first dancers to receive the award, named for the late O’Farrill, a Cuban bandleader and composer.”

On his website, Aguilar’s dancing career is put into perspective: “Cuban Pete made his mark in the Latin dance world at the dawn of the mambo craze, at the Palladium Ballroom, the 'Home of the Mambo,' vaulting from there to international eminence. By March 1950, Cuban Pete had nabbed 63 first prizes at the Palladium, forever immortalizing mambo with his creation of over 100 steps, still the standards of today. These include but are not limited to, the Porpoise, the Prayer, the Shimmy Shimmy, a sort of demi-plie with a knee shimmy action exactly on the clave, the Tango Fan, Handball Mambo, the Head Snap, and the Cuban Pete Special, a kick tap tap, en clave, the most widely imitated step in New York mambo. Handwork, never before used as embellishment in Latin dance, became his trade mark, so much so that Machito often referred to him as ‘El Cuchillo’ (the knife.) Dance Magazine, (March 1959), Albert and Josephine Butler, ranked Pete #1 on their list of mambo luminaries. ‘Cuban Pete will kick his feet in the air and beat the dance floor with his knuckles, all in fine mambo rhythm.’ Cuban Pete, 50 years later, still dances a sizzling mambo, currently with his partner, Barbara Craddock. They perform, teach and judge nationally and internationally."

Earth Hour Launched! [Press Release]

PRIME MINISTER ENDORSES GLOBAL EFFORT:
WWF’S EARTH HOUR

Kuala Lumpur, 10th December 2008: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah bin Ahmad Badawi indicated his support and endorsement of Malaysia’s participation in Earth Hour 2009. To date, 74 cities in 62 countries have committed to switch off for WWF’s Earth Hour in 2009. WWF-Malaysia is currently discussing the potential participation of Malaysian cities in Earth Hour 2009 with relevant authorities. The campaign, which hopes to reach out to more than one billion people in 1,000 cities around the world, asks individuals, businesses and governments to switch off lights for just one hour on Saturday, 28th March 2009 at 8:30pm to create a platform of support for action on climate change.

Earth Hour aims to demonstrate unprecedented solidarity and provide a visual global mandate that will put the heat on world leaders meeting in Copenhagen in December 2009 to strike a new global deal on climate change.

The lights out initiative, which began in Sydney in 2007 as a public awareness raising campaign, has grown significantly over the past two years and now has 74 cities ready to flick the switch in 2009. Cities already committed include Los Angeles, Las Vegas, London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Rome, Manila, Oslo, Cape Town, Warsaw, Lisbon, Singapore, Istanbul, Mexico City, Toronto, Dubai and Copenhagen.

Some of the international icons which will go dark for an hour in solidarity include the world’s tallest hotel tower (the Burj Dubaiin Dubai), the tallest towers in the Americas (the CN tower in Toronto) and the southern hemisphere (the Sky Tower in Auckland) and Moscow’s Federation Tower. Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf has confirmed his support for Earth Hour while Quirinale - the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano – will also turn its lights off. Other landmarks which plan to merge into the night sky include the normally floodlit Table Mountain over Cape Town, South Africa and the Sydney Opera House.

Director General of WWF International Jim Leape said, “When leaders gather in Copenhagen in December 2009 to negotiate a new deal on climate they must feel that the eyes of the world are upon them. Earth Hour provides an opportunity for the public to send a powerful signal that they are watching and expect action.”

Executive Director of Earth Hour Global, Mr Andy Ridley said 2009 was the planet’s ‘destiny year’, with critical decisions needed to be made at the Copenhagen meeting on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, “2009 is the year we decide the future of the earth. It is the year the world finally agrees on a plan to massively reduce carbon emissions across the globe. This is the time to invest in new ways of doing business in a new low carbon economy. We must all step over the line together. The sum of our actions today can change history and secure the future of our planet.”

The extensive WWF conservation network also has more than 30 teams working in countries such as Malaysia, Brazil, Greece, India, Peru, Spain, Switzerland and France, ready to support a local Earth Hour roll out.

Where it Began

2009 will be the first time Malaysia officially takes part in Earth Hour. There has been numerous questions about what Earth Hour is? Most Malaysians are not very aware what Earth Hour is and why we are part of this. This posting is to give you a background of Earth Hour and a simple video to give you a bit of a visual of the past Earth Hour's.

It started with a question: How can we inspire people to take action on climate change?

The answer: Ask the people of Sydney to turn off their lights for one hour.

On 31 March 2007, 2.2 million people and 2,100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour. If the greenhouse reduction achieved in the Sydney CBD during Earth Hour was sustained for a year, it would be equivalent to taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year.

With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off, and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities joined Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement

What its all about

It’s as simple as a flick of the switch.

What began as a campaign to get Sydneysiders to turn their lights off, has grown to become one of the world’s biggest climate change initiatives. In 2009, at 8.30pm on March 28, people around the world will turn their lights for one hour – Earth Hour. We’re aiming to reach one billion people, more than 1000 cities, all joining together in a global effort to show that its possible to take action on global warming.

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia with 2.2 million homes and businesses turning their lights off for one hour. Only a year later and this event had become a global sustainability movement with up to 50 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.

Earth Hour 2009 is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community. A call to stand up, to take responsibility and to get involved in working towards a sustainable future. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to The Americas will stand in darkness. People across the world will turn off their lights and join together in creating the vital conversation about the future of our precious planet.

Over 64 countries and territories are participating in Earth Hour 2009. This number grows every day as people realise how such a simple act, can have such a profound result in affecting change.

Since this is the first time I am blogging, I feel compelled to write about the history of Rhythm Identity. Now, Rhythm Identity is new and young and there really isn’t much history to it but I am hoping whatever story that lies in here will inspire future salseros and bachateros to pursue their dreams and work together towards a better salsa and bachata scene in Malaysia and improve themselves by maintaining an open mindset.

Rhythm Identity started sometime 4th quarter 2006. I was semi-retired, or you could say I was not active in the salsa scene anymore. After a glorious 2005 which was a year of victory, I had slowed down all salsa activities. Until I went for the 1st Malaysian International Salsa Festival in Cherating did the fire in my swell up to a supernova level.

It was by luck then that my salsa sister, Sanddie (we tell people we’re really brother and sister even though we don’t look alike and people really believe us) came to me as there was a studio looking for salsa instructors in TTDI and that person approached us. So I arranged with that person to meet the studio principal. Joanne of Joyclub Dance Academy.

From there on, Rhythm Identity started. Sanddie and I started our first class there and our first batch of students was a nice group of 10 students. They basically came from a friend of mine, Vanessa who worked for Nestle. She brought her friends and they brought their own friends and the class started then.

Sanddie would teach the ladies aspect of salsa and I would run the men’s department. Things were working well, or as well as can be. We had some discussions… arguments is more like it, about the syllabus and how things are to be done but all was well.

It was hard to grow at that time; the student level never exceeded 15 students in total. We were struggling for quite a while. At one point, a group class consisted only of 2 students!!! It was more of a private class then!

But we never gave up. Even when total student headcount dropped to less than 10, we persevered. We kept each other motivated and we worked on routines for performances and kept coming up with ideas on how to market our salsa classes. In times like these, we needed to keep each other motivated and keep each other going strong.

I was very thankful to a few students who kept on staying with us even though their class shrunk to about 3 students. It was their faith in us that kept us going.

I knew what I learned from my previous few instructors was not enough and I needed more to grow Rhythm Identity. I was following too much of the style and the way I did salsa which was influenced from my few previous instructors.

I then had the opportunity to take up lesson from Jaime Jesus from Latin Dance Australia who was one of Australia’s top salsa instructors. I asked him about how he conducted his classes and what are the things he did that made LDA so successful. LDA is famous for their strong and smooth lead/follow techniques as well as in the execution of moves and how they teach the breakdown of salsa moves.

I brought whatever I could learn and incorporated it into Rhythm Identity’s syllabus. The classes grew from there. Things got better when I went to learn from one of the pioneers of LA Style salsa; Francisco Vasques of Los Rumberos and all these went into Rhythm Identity and to the students.

About 1 year after I started teaching, Rhythm Identity finally stabilized and the student base grew. I felt that everything I had done and how my sister and I persevered through the hard times was all worth it. The journey was indeed a priceless one.

Sanddie is no longer active in Rhythm Identity classes and activities and I am left with just me and my precious “children” who are the reasons why I keep on going and going even though things are down. Probably that’s why they call me “Salsa Daddy” as I treat my students like my children. They are my salsa children.

And from the salsa children came the bachata children. I must say that the growth of my bachata and to the creation of my own style of bachata which I coined as BachaZouk is contributed mainly to Nestor Manuelian of Modus Vivendi Salsa Productions, Australia. He had taught and guided my bachata development (and also on salsa) until I reached a stage whereby I was confident to accept Nestor’s invitation to perform at the Sydney Bachata Festival. The other contributing factor, though to a lesser degree was from Inaki Fernandez; dubbed UK’s Bachata King, who had showed me a whole new world of bachata style.

Bachata is no longer about walking like a crab from left to right which is what most people do in Malaysia. It is a lot more than that. Many ladies feel they don’t have to take bachata classes as they only “follow” but now things are different. There’s a lot for ladies to learn. Believe me. A lot.
Bachata has reached a new level and a whole different world of fun. Rhythm Identity is now moving foward with its bachata classes… the BachaZouk!

Now, 2 years after the formation of Rhythm Identity, things are looking much better. I am proud to have my salsa children with me and because of them, I will never give up salsa… nor bachata!

A year of 365 days had gone in a blink of an eye. why i ask ? have i been too busy , have i no time for myself i forget the things happening around me , the clock ticking with me ? i have always yet to wonder in one year there is 365 days 21900 hours , and yet it still slips ! in 08 what i have achieve i ask myself. ALL i can say at first was OH MY ! it went in a blink of an eye i cant even point out and remember what i did and achieve in 08 .

then i sit and thought ... and i realise in 2008 i graduated ! i finish 2 years of studies with a upper credit . i achieve my goal of working with my all time organisation that i am most passionate about WWF . IT was my childhood dream to work at WWF even till today i cant believe i actually worked there and was in the wild with the animals . To see and experience something no ammount money can buy :) shared the joy and the tears with them.

i also got back to dancing .. something which i thought after a long time had be burn to ashes swept away in flames. Thanks to Kak Lin and MSF not forgeting Susana Montero :) i out my feet down and said i WANA go back to dancing ! and this time its gota be salsa ! and i actually did ! i got into a dance school and started . Before i know it i am now already at my level 4 :)i never once regreted learning salsa. There i met really good friends too. i am Glad to say i am proud to be an R.I family . Eventhough i am leaving soon i will always remain a part of the R.I family .

i started my degreee and manage to finish my first sem Passing all my subjects ! PHEW ! now thats an achievment i say . .. in dec i cought hold of my cousins and plan a family vacation together .. trust me .. for me THATS an acheivements because we took the inniciative to go out together as a family since we barely see each other.

in 2008 i ..........

me and my friends decided to book a room at one world since i work there i could help get a discount :) we we book a room and PARTIED all night long . it started off at new years eve at nondos dinner and a little cam whoring :) well ITS US !

This years christmas was splendid. christmas is the time of giving and sharing. spending time with friends and loved ones. and thats just what i did :) it all all started on the 23rd itself , me , divya , dean , tsu and lisa had a christmas karaoke at pyramid .. it was a time of laughter , joy , and much fun . It was a good meet up cause i have not seen them in a while too aspecially Div as she just got back from thailand here are the pictures that i took in pyramid with the gang

Review of the movie Ip Man

the movie was really good . If you think that the movie is just a typical kung fu movie with chinese man flying from tree to tree. THINK AGAIN . Ip Man was an eye opener movie because it had very sentimental values in it such as friendship , family , honour , respect and dignity. the whole show was about how the Great Ip Man took his journey of lie in becoming the worlds most famouse and best martial artist. Having a son and a wife with the load of people begging him to teach them kung fu was not easy. During the japanese war He fougt 10 people at one go. In those days they fought for a bag of rice if the won .BUT he rought out of caurage and respect and the dignity of his people. times were though then. Ip Man had a beautiful house, a gorgeouse wife and an adorable son. After the war all he had was his wife , son and a shelter on his head. Even he had to work for the japanese mining cole and working hard to feed his family. after seeing a friend die in the arm of the japanese he put a stop to it and fought the General himself ! AND HOLY NOTHER OF GOD WAS HE THE HOTTEST THING ALIVE !! i mean the general in the movie . GOD knows how he actually looked like but who cares ! hahha here he is ? as for graphci and camera angles the movie was not too bad either. acting could have been better BUT after a while you dont bother .. lol

damn !!! mm mmm .... this is one gorgeous hunk isn't he lol

All all the reviews and hype about mama mia the Musial i finally got a chance to watch it last night. i thought the whole show was good. the singers were all talented singers and dancers. It was all professionally done. I enjoyed the show as much as the cast enjoyed performing :)

The scene of the famous song ' Dont go wasting your emotions ' we all know that scene :)

what i thought of the musical

first of all i though all the cast was good . maybe i should have compared it to the movie and set such high expectations of it. But how not to when i read the papers and reviews was ass awesome excellent . anyways the cast individually i thought dona was ok . she was good but nothing compared to the movie star herself meryl streep . BUT i have to admit the guys in the musical Was WAY better then the movie not looks but talent of voices :) , the coregraphy of every dance was spectacullar :) everyone was so energetic . so ABBA :) at the end of the day i stilll got up to my feet and dance plus sing along. so it was not so bad after all. i myself took a few pictures at instana budaya, with grandma , mum , aunts and uncle and my sister. one big family to Mama mia :)

vamp love of twilight

Everyone knew twilight as stephenie Meyer greatest collection of Vamp love. Now its only a book but D movie everyone is talking about. i watched twilight twice . some people asked me WHY ... once was enough for me. I actually dont know why twice i guess hot Vamps do sell LOL .
After reading the book and watching the movie i guess my expectations was not that high since i have read Harry Potter and saw the movie , same goes for Lord Of The Rings i could tell the movie will not be as good as the book. But it was not that bad after all. Yes there was some Corny line here and there in the movie butt when there is Edward Cullen and Mr Cullen Himself you forget the corny line i guess.
Vamp love to me has always been interesting. Its sooo passionate not like human love . And i feel its a different kind of passion. so tense so sensual so true yet so dangerous now THATS hot :)

The cullen family has been said to be the hottest Vamp family around . Well i guess i cant argue can i .
the famous scene in the movie where she almost gets hit and Edward come into her rescue :) well as imaginative and dreamy as it sounds i would like someone to come and rescue me like that too :) someone hot and hunky like Edward Plus a Vamp haha Now thats a dream worth it lol

Another scene where all out hearts melt. the time where Edward took her to the highest peak of pine trees . The scenery was Fantastic. Although the effects during this scene was like WTF for me but what the hell. :)

hell. the villain that got the whole culen family on the run protecting bella. I think even i would feel protected with a Hot Vamp like Edward around me 24/7 lol dont you .
